Russia assures that new units withdraw from the border with Ukraine

The Russian Ministry of Defense has indicated on its website that these armored units "have begun to move towards their permanent deployment point after completing the planned exercises in the training areas"

The Russian authorities have assured this Thursday that new armored units of the Western Military District have begun to withdraw from an area near the border with Ukraine to return to their barracks, once some maneuvers in this area of the country have been completed.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has indicated on its website that these armored units "have begun to move towards their permanent deployment point after completing the planned exercises in the training areas." Although he has not specified his destination, he has highlighted that they will travel a distance of about a thousand kilometers.

"Upon arrival at the point of permanent deployment, military personnel will have to carry out maintenance tasks on military equipment and prepare it for new combat training activities planned during the winter training period," the Defense Ministry said.

For its part, the Ministry announced in a second statement that twenty warships have begun maneuvers in the Caspian Sea after leaving the port of Makhachkala. A frigate, six corvettes, artillery boats and mine detectors participate in the exercises.

“The crew of the Caspian Flotilla ships will have to carry out purposeful combat training tasks in difficult environmental conditions and act on various indications coming from the fleet command post,” he detailed.

In recent days, Russia has announced the withdrawal of forces from the border area with Ukraine, including the Crimean peninsula, although the United States has been skeptical. In fact, a senior US official said on Wednesday that the number of troops had increased by 7,000 in recent days.

"All the indications we have now are only to speak publicly and make statements about de-escalation, while privately mobilizing for war," said this senior official, thus denying the Russian withdrawal announced by Moscow on the Ukrainian border, according to the CNN chain.

The tension around Ukraine has increased in recent months due to the deployment of Russian troops along the country's border, which the international community has understood as a possible preparation for an "invasion". Russia has denied these accusations and has accused NATO of increasing military activity in the area.
